What are adipose-derived stem cells, and why does Korea use them?
Adipose-derived stem cells are mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) isolated from a patient's own fat. They self-renew and can differentiate into bone, cartilage, muscle and neural lineages — but their bigger clinical value is immunomodulation and anti-inflammatory signalling, the main mechanism behind their use in chronic disease. Korea favours fat as the source because harvesting is simple, cell yield per gram is high, and autologous cells avoid rejection issues.
ADSTEM inj.: EHL Bio's stem cell drug for atopic dermatitis
ADSTEM inj. is EHL Bio's cell drug using the patient's own adipose-derived mesenchymal stem cells, given as two intravenous infusions, targeting moderate-to-severe subacute and chronic atopic dermatitis.
