Documents and lab work to prepare
Prepare blood work no older than three months (CBC, liver and kidney function), infectious disease screening (HBV, HCV, HIV, syphilis) and a full medication list. The team uses these both to judge suitability and to clear you for the local anaesthesia used during fat harvesting.
Trip one: assessment and harvest
The first trip typically runs 3-5 days: consultation, additional testing and a small fat harvest from the abdomen or thigh. You can fly home afterwards, and the hospital reports on the progress of your cell lot while it is in culture.
Trip two: infusions and session count
The second trip is the infusion phase, and the number of sessions depends on the disease and its stage. Some programmes are a single dose; others — chronic kidney care, for example — commonly recommend three or more under a physician's plan. Ask upfront how many sessions the quoted price covers and whether annual cell storage is billed separately.
