Korea rhinoplasty guide: implants, cartilage and revision cases
Safe rhinoplasty means matching the material to your skin and existing framework. The bridge is usually built with silicone or Gore-Tex, while the tip should be supported by your own cartilage: it has the thinnest skin and the highest risk of extrusion if a rigid implant is used.

Choosing the material
Silicone is easy to shape and removable, which suits the bridge. Ear cartilage is soft and curved, ideal for the tip. Rib cartilage is the strongest and is usually reserved for multiple revisions or when the remaining cartilage is insufficient.
Revision rhinoplasty
Revisions need at least 6–12 months for tissue to soften after the previous surgery, and the surgeon needs to know what material was used before: scar tissue and contracture drive the outcome more than the shape you have in mind.
Alar base and nostrils
Alar reduction narrows the nostril base and is often combined with dorsal augmentation for balance. The incision sits in the alar crease and fades over roughly 3–6 months.

Rhinoplasty (bridge & tip)
Rhinoplasty at Lienjang selects the implant material — silicone, septal cartilage or autologous tissue — according to the existing nasal structure so bridge and tip stay in proportion with the face. It is the second most-published before & after category after eyes.
Revision rhinoplasty
Revision rhinoplasty at Lienjang removes or replaces the previous implant to treat deviation, implant migration, thin skin or a red tip, then rebuilds the framework with cartilage or autologous tissue.
Alar reduction
Alar reduction narrows a wide nasal base and flared nostrils with the incision hidden in the alar crease, usually performed together with bridge and tip work in a single session.
Frequently asked questions
- How long does a nose implant last?
- A correctly placed silicone implant can last decades, but the tip bears pressure and changes shape over time, which is why cartilage support at the tip is used to limit long-term contracture.
